We have really enjoyed working with Nazim and Hasan G. so far. They take a good idea and make it better. Nazim took time out yesterday to discuss the idea of having one large window in the dining room (an idea which he liked) and then he and Hasan brainstormed it and came up with rather an elegant solution, as sketched on concrete above. There will be one window, 3.6 m wide with 4 partitions. The central 2 will open to the sides to create a possible 1.8m opening onto the courtyard with or without the mosquito screens. When fully open this gives the option of having a half-in half-out dining table. And gives "corners" to the courtyard. So the central "column" of brick on the pics will disapppear. On the upper flloor we could replace some of the panes with stained glass...
Our Monday morning sessions are becoming a tradition, another 90 min meeting this morning as we also discussed the possibility of creating a trough on the far side of the pool terrace in which we could submerge a pool cover on rollers to be dragged out on spring and autumn evenings to keep the heat in the pool and prolong the swimming season. And to keep closed in the colder months to keep the pool clean. Although they've never done this before they are not against exploring the feasibility of this. We shall look at materials and solutions in the week. Plus we planned a wall on the north side of the terrace to give privacy from the road and create a pool shower in the corner and an area for a built-in barbeque half way along the terrace.
